Yong Sanga gives brand flexibility with very low MOQs

Yong Sanga Sees a New Opportunity in Supporting Brands with Small Orders

Everyone is looking for more customization, but often that requires either committing to larger orders or paying higher prices.

Yong Sanga Co., Ltd., a specialist in polos and t-shirts using a wide range of fabrics, is offering a better solution.

“The key is that our company has a creative and flexible mindset. We are open to manufacturing a wide variety of designs. We’re also very flexible about our MOQs.  In fact, we are trying to have no minimum order size,” said Thunthospon Manathon.

Yong Sanga was founded in 1967 by Mr. Manathon’s father. In those days the focus was on large volumes of around 3000 to 5000 pieces per style. In the past 10 to 15 years customers have shifted to smaller orders of 500 pieces per style per color – or even smaller.

“For our local fashion brands we are doing orders of around 50 pieces.  For our overseas customers order sizes are between 300-500 pieces,” he said.

Helping Brands Be Part of the Sustainability Trend

Today every brand understands that it needs to have sustainability touch points or risk being called as contributing to looming environmental issues.

“Cotton USA™ is the answer for adding that all-important sustainability aspect to garments.  The entire process for the way U.S. cotton is grown is very transparent.

“It also gives value to the buyers because they can use this as a marketing tool to show consumers that their products are sustainable,” he said.

“Our company has a creative and flexible mindset. We are open to a wide variety of designs - and we offer low or no MOQs.”

“Our best decision so far is joining the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol® because it provides us with information about the cotton used in our products. This is very important because it’s the connection between cotton suppliers and the global buyers, who need to provide greater transparency about their supply chains.  This will enable us to provide enhanced support for our customers now – and in the future,” said Mr. Manathon.

The Extra Value of High Quality

Guaranteeing a quality product is important for winning with brands – and ultimately consumers.  A big part of that is using the best quality fabrics.

“From my perspective, as a garment manufacturer, I’ve seen little or no defects during the fabric inspection when the fabric is made from U.S. cotton.  Compared with using fabric made from other cotton sources, this saves a lot of time and protects our reputation since we guarantee quality products,” said Mr. Manathon.

Quality Backed by Reliability

After years of chasing price, more brands have started to factor the cost risk into their purchasing equations.

“During the pandemic everything was very uncertain. Some brands started to get nervous about relying too heavily on neighboring countries.  They thought that it might be a good idea to have Thailand as one of their options, especially when things don’t go right – even if we were a little more expensive,” he said.

As a result of the inflow of orders, Yong Sanga will be increasing its capacity by 50 percent by the end of this year.  Currently the company can produce 200,000 t-shirts and 100,000 polos annually.

A New Service

Yong Sanga’s vision for the future includes going beyond being a manufacturer and developing new services for their customers.

The company will be able to warehouse finished orders for their customers and then ship parts of that inventory to stores or retailers’ distribution centers on demand.  This would save smaller brands the task of having to arrange deliveries themselves.

“We’re also studying the market to gain a better understanding of market trends and product development so that we can provide some consulting services to our customers,” said Mr. Manathon.

From more flexible order sizes to assistance with product development, Yong Sanga is finding new ways to support its customers and help them succeed.

Certified Sustainable

The Trust Protocol is aligned with existing sustainability programs including the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. It brings quantifiable and verifiable goals and measurement to sustainable cotton production, and drives continuous improvement in six key sustainability metrics – land use, soil carbon, water management, soil loss, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy efficiency. The Trust Protocol is designed from the ground up to address the unique regulatory and larger farm growing environment in the United States.

How the Trust Protocol Works

The Protocol Consumption Management Solution (PCMS) starts at the gin when the participating producer’s cotton is ginned and each unique Permanent Bale Identification number (PBI) is attached. At this point we know the exact gin weight and can create an exact amount of Protocol Cotton Consumption Units, where one Protocol Cotton Consumption Unit is created for each kilogram of Protocol Verified Cotton. This important step provides absolute authentication of U.S. cotton origin, verifying against the USDA database.

Supply Chain Transparency

The PCMS harnesses blockchain technology through a powerful combination of the Trust Protocol platform and TextileGenesis™ system to deliver full supply chain transparency by recording and verifying the movement of U.S. cotton along the entire supply chain.  This creates article-specific transparency for finished products that was not previously accessible to brands and retailers.

Trusted Third Party Certification

The Trust Protocol incorporates a comprehensive program of verification against Trust Protocol benchmarks, in the form of both second-party and independent third-party audits of grower performance through Control Union Certifications—the latter through allocated on-site visits.

Control Union Certifications has certified over 150 industry standards programs worldwide, including working as a key partner in the early development and piloting phases of Impact Claim Verification Protocol.
