Pioneering practical solutions to apparel’s environment impact

Sustainability and innovation are at the forefront of the apparel industry as brands race to meet even stricter rules for garments.

This has both suppliers and retailers trying to figure out how to develop collections that comply with complex regulations – and still have selling floor appeal.

AMANN Group has emerged in Asia as a leading force in making the apparel industry more environmentally friendly through its commitment to providing sustainable sewing thread solutions.

Our Sabaflex thread has 35% biodegradable filaments with a high elasticity.

Developing Eco-Friendly Products

AMANN has become synonymous with eco-friendly thread solutions, and their commitment to sustainability is evident in their innovative product offerings. The company has taken a pioneering approach by developing biodegradable and water-repellent threads, setting new standards for eco-conscious manufacturing in the apparel industry.

“The lifecycle of our Lifecycle thread is from ‘cradle to cradle’,” said Michael Zhang, Managing Director of AMANN China.

“We have developed a biodegradable sewing thread and a GRS certified thread, which is recycled. Also we have spun polyester and filament polyester that are water-repellant, and PFC free.

This emphasis on environmental responsibility underscores AMANN’s proactive stance towards reducing the ecological footprint of the fashion supply chain.

High-Stretch and High-Efficiency Threads

AMANN’s focus on high-stretch and high-efficiency threads for segments such as lingerie, swimwear, and activewear is part of its goals to meet the specific needs of different apparel categories.

“Our Sabaflex thread, which is 35% biodegradable filaments with a high elasticity, is very popular in China and other Asian markets,” said Mr. Zhang.

AMANN’s Sabatex Soft Recycled combines sustainability with maximum softness thanks to the use of superfine, recycled microfilaments.

In February, AMANN introduced Sabatex Recycled HB, which features soft hand-feel, higher bulkiness, high production efficiency, and is suitable for segments of lingerie, swimming wear, activewear, and similar products.

“We have the advantage of having highly trained technical teams in Europe and in China which work on developing products that can deliver greater durability and meet the new standards for sustainability”.

One of AMANN’s most popular threads is its Serafil thread that offers high durability.

“Serafil has high breaking strengths making it ideal for sewing garments at high speeds. The reduced breakage means that workers don’t have to stop the production to repair broken threads.  This helps the factory to be more efficient and productive,” said Mr. Zhang.

Introducing DMIx Cloud for Environmental Impact Reduction

Another contribution to reducing waste is the DMIx Cloud, a cloud-based digital visualization of color quality that can be checked by customers.

Brands and manufacturers can access AMANN’s full thread color-range on DMIx, featuring customized tools like color measuring and seam simulation.

By leveraging digital solutions to streamline color quality assessment, AMANN is not only enhancing operational efficiency but also reducing environmental impact and waste through optimized processes and reducing sampling.

DMIx Cloud is part of AMANN’s commitment to technological innovation, positioning the company as a trailblazer in driving sustainable practices through advanced digitalization.

Expansion Plans and Sustainability Initiatives

AMANN’s vision extends beyond delivering innovative products, encompassing a holistic approach towards sustainability and expansion.

The company launched its GHG (Green House Gas) program in 2023 and established a roadmap for Carbon Footprint Reduction.

AMANN is also expanding its capacity in Vietnam, and has plans for new plants in India and Bangladesh.

“We actually have a footprint in those countries and we also have our technical center, which can show the customer a mock up or samples, as well as show the actual performance of our thread and also our solutions,” said Mr. Zhang.

“We provide technical support on the site of the OEM manufacturing plant. We can also provide technical training to the machinery technicians on the spot at customer sites.”

As AMANN continues to lead the way in sustainable thread solutions, their dedication to innovation and environmental responsibility positions them as an influential force in shaping the future of apparel manufacturing.
