Sales of merchandise – what was once called “premiums” or “giveaways” – are growing faster than many core fashion categories. The demand is being driven by a powerful combination of rising consumer appetite for identity-based apparel and the increasingly sophisticated marketing strategies of creators, companies, and institutions eager to cash in on the opportunity.
By the end of 2025, global sales of promotional merchandise are projected to reach $54.7 billion, with apparel accounting for $13.4 billion, or nearly 25% of the total, according to an Inside Fashion analysis.
