China’s new supply chains that are small in quantity, quick and cost-effective could help manufacturers in other countries find the way forward to meet the demand for more agile production.

THE SITUATION IN FEBRUARY

The good news is that materials costs look to remain stable.  Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for logistics, which are back in the danger zone.

For the foreseeable future, carriers will need to avoid the Red Sea and take longer routes.  This is forcing brands to revise their planning since now they’ll need to tack on an extra 2-4 weeks to delivery dates.  Not to mention that these longer routes are more costly.

At a time when most brands and retailers are trying to go all in smaller orders with shorter lead times, this is not good news.
