Earnings released in April showed that overall sales are growing, but profits still remain under pressure – even costs remain flat or are decreasing.

In many cases, earnings for early 2024 are being compared with the atypical conditions we saw in early 2023.  So in all fairness, it could take another year before year-on-year comparisons are more realistic.
