Asos Sees 10% Sales Gain During Lockdown

The global retail lockdowns were good news for Asos (UK).  The online retail platform reported that sales rose 10% during the four months from February to June, while it saw a 16% jump in its customer base.

International retail sales climbed 17% to £654.1 million, while sales in the EU rose 20% to £328 million.

In the UK, sales slipped 1% during the period.

Asos said it expects sales for 2020 to be towards the top end of market expectations, despite costs related to Covid-19.

The company attributes its successful performance to the surge in online shopping as a result of the lockdowns and social distancing.

It also noted that cost cutting and “rigorous” business management helped them shift into the right merchandise as consumers no longer need party or other more formal attire.
