Mega marketplaces are under attack in the EU, while Amazon continues its global expansion and Temu looks to Europe

RISKY BUSINESS:  The EU could fine platforms 6% of global revenue for violating the Digital Services Act.

On the Radar.  The European Union has officially classified Shein as a “very large online platform,” meaning that it now faces the bloc’s strictest digital regulations.  Shein said it has around 108 million monthly active users in the 27-nation EU, per the Associated Press.  The EU categorizes ‘very large’ as  online platforms and intermediaries that have more than 45 million users per month in the EU, per the EU Trade Commission.
