VOCABULARY:

Natural

Natural fibres are obtained from materials existing in nature and used by mechanical processes, which do not change the structure. They may be of animal or plant origin. The first category includes wool, silk and leather, while the second category includes cotton, linen and hemp. In this context, too, the industry has tried to improve all production processes, in order to meet the values of a contemporary consumer who is increasingly attentive and sensitive to the issues of traceability, transparency of processes, ethics, as well as policies related to the use of water, energy and the presence of chemicals.

Transformed

Unlike natural fibres, processed fibres are those originating precisely from the processing of second raw materials – which can therefore be pre- or post-consumer, or pre-industrial. Pre-consumer waste is made up of manufacturing waste that has not reached the consumer. Post-consumer waste is waste collected after the consumer has disposed of it. Pre-industrial waste is made up of waste of the very first manufacturing phases. The transformation can take place through a mechanical process, based on a transformation that does not involve the use of chemical substances and additives, or through a chemical process, for which the use of chemistry is inevitably expected. The transformation of second raw materials requires a high level of company technical know-how.

Innovative

Innovative fibres represent a new generation of smart materials and cutting-edge technologies, the result of a vision that integrates innovation, responsibility, nature and creativity. The last frontier of responsible innovation is represented by biopolymers that, starting from nature and through technology, give life to high-performance solutions.

Back in the Loop

Alternative innovative Circular Economy powered materials and business models. Because nothing is created and nothing is destroyed – therefore we can’t afford it to get wasted.
