Crystal Group Supports Caring Covid Initiatives

Crystal International Group Limited (Hong Kong) continues to work with the governments and local communities in the operating countries to care the global employees and the communities during this prolonged pandemic. Over a year of the fight against the pandemic, Crystal International stays strong together to keep all employees healthy and safe and demonstrate strong social responsibility to care the communities. Recent caring activities conducted by Crystal International for employees and their communities include:

Arrangement of COVID-19 tests and vaccinations

Crystal International has arranged vaccinations for the employees of factories. For instance, 96% of workers in China factories, 72% of workers in Cambodia factories and 78% of workers in Sri Lanka factories are fully vaccinated. Moreover, 23% of employees in Vietnam factories already had their first dose of vaccinations. (Data updated as of 8 Sept)

The lifestyle wear factory and intimate factory in Vietnam coordinated with the government to arrange COVID-19 test and vaccinations for all employees.

Bangladesh factories
In Bangladesh, the government has started the registration of COVID-19 vaccination for the people who are over 35 years old. The intimate factory in Bangladesh has not only opened a vaccination registration booth inside the factory premises to help employees to register, but also arranged the transportation for carrying the workers to the vaccination centers.

Moreover, the Civil Surgeon Department in Gazipur has decided to vaccinate all garment workers in Gazipur. Two factories in Bangladesh have already registered for this vaccination programme.

Generous donation to the communities
Vietnam factories
The intimate factory donated 2.5 billion VND and goods to the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund in Bac Giang province and the Standing Board of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to support their COVID-19 prevention and control work. The Fatherland Front Committee distributed all medical goods and supplies to different frontline units for protecting them and fighting the epidemic.
The denim factory also donated 1.3 billion VND to support the Provincial and Cam Khe Fatherland Front Committee for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines.
Moreover, other factories in Vietnam also made donation to the government and the District Provincial Fatherland Front’s fund: lifestyle wear factory – 5 billion VND, Sportswear and outdoor apparel factory – 1.5 billion VND. The government and the Fatherland Front launched a “Socialised vaccination programme” raising public fund from its 63 municipal and provincial members, and planned to allocate 16 trillion VND for the national vaccination programme. To support the government’s objective of purchasing COVID-19 vaccines by the end of this year, Vietnam factories donated 10.3 billion VND in total.

Sri Lanka factories
Cooperating with The Board of Investment (BOI) and the Ministry of Health, the factories set up an Intermediate Care Centre within Katunayake Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) to treat COVID-19 positive cases. Representatives from BOI, Free Trade Zone Manufactures Association (FTZMA), Ministry of Health, and other neighbouring companies in all industrial processing zones attended the opening ceremony on 5 July. This treatment centre consists of 445 beds with some priority beds, which dedicated to both female and male patients. The factories also donated 100 beds to the centre.

Proper accommodation in the factories

To ensure the safety of the workers and reduce the risk of infection, Crystal international’s intimate factory arranged in-house accommodation facilities to provide a safe living environment to the workers. Temporary dormitories, mobile toilets, temporary shower facilities and clothes washing area are set up inside the factory premises.

Adequate supply of food and necessities to employees
Vietnam factories
The Vietnam factories collaborated with the Executive Committee of the grassroots trade union to support more than 2,400 workers who lived in the lockdown areas and lacked food. The factories distributed more than 10 tons of rice and 200 boxes of noodles for free to them, and called for donations of essentials, vegetables, eggs, cooking oil, peanuts, etc. to help these workers. In addition, the company unions and workers donated essential food, packed it into smaller portions, and sent to the workers in need. Industrial Zones Authority (IZA) and IZA trade union also joined hand to present food and masks to the workers.
Through the generous support from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the lifestyle wear factory in Vietnam distributed 86 gifts (one million VND each) to union members and employees.

Comprehensive disinfection
Vietnam, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka factories
All the factories in Vietnam, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka undertook thorough sterilisation and disinfection. The factories regularly disinfect the production floors, shuttle buses, warehouses, canteens, and all other places, to protect the health and safety of all employees. In addition, the intimate factory in Vietnam picked up the employees from their home areas to the factory to prevent them from being infected in the public transportation.
