H&M Studio’s newest collection takes cues from the brave nineteenth-century writer Violet Paget (pen name Vernon Lee) and her residency in palatial Florence, encapsulating her fearless style with tapered tailoring, long-line silhouettes and feminine blouses.
Tactile fabric meets tailoring for a dress-down or dress-up self-assured sensibility. 70s rock, disco and punk can be felt throughout the collection too.
Icon David Bowie’s gender-fluid flair and the era’s party-anywhere philosophies are infused in the streamlined suiting and palazzo-printed pleated dresses.
Frilled shirting, tailored denim and agate blue sequins capture the collection’s day-to-night spirit.
“The AW20 collection muse is not afraid to challenge the status quo. This collection is for those that celebrate being oneself above all else. Wear the bold earrings to work, try the lingerie-inspired dress over the red leather trousers, or layer with the deep V-neck dresses for a relaxed sexiness. Key pieces include the bright blue two-piece suit; the still life printed polo neck dress and the black tailored knee-length culottes.
Other pieces that are key for AW20 include a deep red long-line Lurex shirt with matching trousers and the square-toed black knee-high boots.
A colour palette of azure blue, malachite green and champagne pink dominates, set against dark marble grey, red and black.

Premium-quality recycled Italian wool gives outerwear and soft layers a comfortable weightiness.
Leather offers depth to trouser and jacket and shimmering Lurex adds ease to tailoring.
Denim produced with efforts to minimise the use of water adds an edge, as does the recycled nylon on frilled shirting.

Statement jewellery introduces an explicit glamour to the collection’s grunge-like undertones.
