Pressure is building up on Ex-Asia and intra Asia routes. Concerns are growing that we could see a scenario like in 2021-22.

Ex-Asia Faces Capacity Shortages

Allocation is tightening on the Transpacific Eastbound Ocean Trade Lane, as vessel utilization out of Asia is near 100%, creating a tight market for exports, per UPS.

This is being driven by rising imports into the EU and US on the back of strong retail sales.

At the same time, air cargo demand still saw double digit year-over-year growth in March as capacity struggles to keep up on key ex-APAC lanes.  This demand is being driven by e-commerce and is expected to persist through the remainder of the year, said UPS.
