Chinese Tourists Skip Europe and Head to Japan
A weak yen has turned into a blessing of sorts for Japanese retailers. The devalued currency is making prices for tourists much cheaper than in Europe. The result has been a surge in sales of high end products to Chinese tourists.
BARGAIN HUNTING The same products can cost 10-20% less when purchased in Japan, at current exchange rates.
TAX REFUND Japan’s simple tax refund process allows tourists to have the tax immediately deducted when purchasing items, unlike the complex processes in other countries.
