Air cargo rates out of China hit a new high of $12.27/kg, up 4.8% week-on-week, according to the TAC Index. This compares to $3.29/kg last year.
Demand is still being driven by personal protective equipment exports. Airports in China continue to face backlogs.
However rates out of Hong Kong to North America fell last week to $6.49/kg (-23% from the previous week), according to the TAC Index. But that’s nearly double the $3.62/kg that was the average rate a year ago.
Other Rate Changes
- Hong Kong to Europe prices remained flat, with a 0.5% decrease last week to $5.77 /kg.
- Shanghai to Europe prices to increase, 12% week-on-week to a record $11.18 / kg.
