Outdoor sports is a fast growing market segment. Mills are keeping the pace by continuing to innovate fabrics that have both function and an element of fashion.
Consumers are looking for outerwear that offers endurance, but that is adaptable – including thermal regulation, water resistant, stain resistant, to name a few.
In addition, there is increasing pressure on brands to meet new, more stringent sustainability standards.
That means bringing in more recycled fibers and fabrics, increasing durability, and considering how garments can be constructed so that they can ultimately become part of the circular economy.
This has got R&D departments working overtime!
However, mills continue to break new boundaries so that outdoor sports apparel can continue to perform.
