THE SITUATION IN APRIL
Despite high levels of angst over potentially weak consumer spending and higher costs, most companies who reported earnings during March showed healthy performances.
Without the burden of excess inventories, brands are clearly ‘leaner and meaner’ – and its paying off!
Most brands showed solid sales growth, in some cases driven by less discounting. In fact, for many Q4 was the kind of quarter brands have been waiting for.
