A PLM System Purpose Built for SMEs

Coordinating the work flow amongst service providers and team members who are located at different locations is never easy.

Larger companies have had the advantage of software systems that enabled them to digitize various aspects of their work and share it securely with various stakeholders.

Smaller companies generally find that these software solutions are just too big and too complex for them.  From the timeline for onboarding team members to the cost of purchasing the system, PLM has just been out of reach for most SMEs.

That’s put these companies at a disadvantage as they lost valuable time due to inefficiencies.

“Brands try to organize data with software such as Excel, Google Drive, Dropbox, Outlook, shared folders, PowerPoint but it is often a source of confusion with duplicate information, lost or inaccurate,” said Delphine Joubert, Business Development Director.

C-DESIGN recognized this problem and set out to create a solution from the ground up – one the specifically designed to meet the needs of these smaller companies.

The result is a system centralizes all product data in a single, easy-to-use online solution.  It includes design, tech packs and of course PLM.

Turning an Obstacle in an Opportunity

“During my years of working with other PLM systems I found that many small companies that tried to implement a PLM system would within less than two years be back working on Excel sheets, Google docs and Powerpoint slides.  The existing systems were too complicated, the learning curve was too steep,” said Patrick Abbou, Founder and CEO of C-DESIGN.  The Paris-based company’s customers include Ba&sh, Maison Kitsune, Rouje, Maison Standards and others.

C-DESIGN took the tools that people already were comfortable using and used these as the foundation on where to build their system.

C-Design Key Advantages

  • Develop your technical files, organize them and share them with your subcontractors.

  • Manage all your data with PLM in total collaboration, from design to production.

A UI That People Like to Use

“We realized that people were used to using social media apps so we designed our UI (user interface) to work in the same way that these apps work.  It makes it much more intuitive for users of C-DESIGN PLM.  They need less training to use the system,” he said.

Flexibility was another key consideration.  The software needed to be able to adapt to the changing requirements of each company.

“We built C-DESIGN PLM so that any system adminstrator could easily change and customize it to meet their own company’s needs – without having to write even a line of code.  They can change and modify things as often as  they like,” said Mr. Abbou.

Another big win for small to medium sized companies is the fact that C-DESIGN PLM is a web-based solution.  Hence the software is future proof.  This saves companies from continually having to purchase software upgrades.  Or worse – risk investing in a system that becomes obselete.

Another attractive feature is that C-DESIGN PLM is Saas (software as a service).  Companies simply buy monthly subscriptions for each staff member.  They can add more subscriptions or cancel members at any time.

There are no upfront costs to purchase hardware or software. Companies pay to use C-DESIGN PLM on monthly basis.  Monthly subscriptions start at €125 per user.

“C-DESIGN PLM can run on any computer – Mac or PC, tablets or even smart phones.  So you can use it any time, any where,” said Mr. Abbou.
