Coldwater Creek (USA), the women’s fashion and accessories retailer owned by private equity firm Sycamore Partners (USA), has people wondering what’s happening.
On one hand, the company had a massive 70% off – everything must go – sale in July.
Physical stores bore signage “temporarily closed”.
The retailer’s website greets visitors with “We’re Closed”. However this was followed by “Good friends new say Good-bye, they simply say see you soon.”
So is Coldwater Creek planning a comback?
It seems that Sycamore is staying quiet about the future of Coldwater Creek.
Like all retailers, Coldwater Creek to a huge hit from the COVID crisis. Unlike other retailers, insights into what it plans next remain very murky.
It is unclear whether the retailer will go into liquidation, file for bankruptcy or do something totally unexpected.
