THE SITUATION IN AUGUST
There’s a looming question mark hovering over the US and EU markets with retailers wondering what the second half of the year – and in particular the Holiday season – will look like.
No one is betting big. Rate hikes and inflation have not taken as big a bite out of retail spending on apparel as was expected but there has been an obvious slowing down in the volume of discretionary items consumers are buying.
They’re definitely not shopping like during the ‘good old pandemic days’.
